SONNENWELT
In Großschönau in the north-western Waldviertel, SONNENWELT offers a multimedia journey through 10,000 years of people and energy across approximately 2,000 m². During a tour of around 90 minutes through twelve time zones, visitors encounter nomads, ancient Egyptians and Romans and discover how building, living and everyday life evolved with the power of the sun.
Numerous hands-on stations invite visitors to experiment: generating energy with their own muscles, trying historical techniques or learning more about renewable electricity in the changing special exhibition. The weather-independent indoor exhibition is suitable for families with children of all ages as well as group excursions.
A freely accessible energy-themed adventure playground is located outside, while the shop and café provide a relaxed end to the visit. The season generally runs from spring to autumn – current opening hours can be found on the SONNENWELT website.
